On July 16, 2019, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) officially announced the 21st batch of SVHC candidate substances of the REACH regulation, adding four new substances to the list of substances of very high concern (SVHCs). So far, the SVHC candidate list contains a total of 201 substances.
New substances
serial number | The name of the substance | CAS number | Common uses |
1 | Methyl glycol ether acetate | 110-49-6 | It is used in the production of semiconductors, paints, varnishes, varnishes, inks, coatings, adhesives, textiles, leather, etc. |
2 | Tris(nonylphenyl)phosphite (TNPP) Among them, the content of 4-nonylphenol (branched and linear chain (4-NP) is greater than or equal to 0.1% | - | It is mainly used as an antioxidant to stabilize polymers. |
3 | 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoro-2- (heptafluoropropoxy) propionic acid and its salts and acyl halides (HFPO-DA) | - | It is used as a processing aid in the production of fluoropolymers. |
4 | 4-tert-butylphenol | 98-54-4 | It is used in the synthesis of coating products, polymers, adhesives, sealants and other substances. |
With the continuous update of the SVHC candidate list, enterprises are facing more and more control requirements. Enterprises need to raise their awareness of the risks of their products, and within six months after the substance is included in the SVHC Candidate List, eligible companies need to complete the SVHC notification in the article. Companies are advised to investigate their supply chains early to prepare for regulatory changes.
