JPMA Certification
Founded in 1962, The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) is a certification body representing many baby and children's product manufacturers from the U.S., Canada and Mexico, etc. JPMA is committed to improving the safety of children's products. JPMA is committed to improving the safety of children's products and providing parents and guardians with a reference when purchasing children's products. In the U.S., safety standards for children's products are established and developed by the ASTM American Society for Testing Material (ASTM). In order to be certified by JPMA, these products are sent to a third-party testing facility that has been pre-qualified by JPMA to verify that they comply with the ASTM standards, as well as with federal laws, state laws and retailer requirements.
JPMA has certifications in 23 product categories, including: bassinets and cribs, bathtub seats, booster seats, strollers, nursing tables, children's folding chairs, portable frame bassinets, full-size cots, baby booster rails, portable baby bassinets, high chairs, baby bath tubs, infant rocking chairs, baby carrier slings, infant swings, playpens and partially-full-size cots, portable bed rails, portable baby chairs, infant carriers, multi-purpose baby activity centres, toddler beds, walkers, and divider/side beds.
JPMA's certification process:
1、The producer must apply for JPMA certification and participate in JPMA's certification programme to become a member of the association.
2, the manufacturer's products must be tested by an officially certified laboratory.
3, product testing should meet the standards published by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM).
4, the manufacturer through the JPMA certification, its certification responsibility does not end. Manufacturers must do all product types are tested at least once a year to achieve the goal. Manufacturers can choose an officially recognised laboratory to conduct testing and submit the report. If the manufacturer conducts product testing in its own laboratory, JPMA will do a site visit once a year to verify the manufacturer's testing capabilities.
5. Random testing is also in part of the product testing results. In this programme, products will be purchased from retail shops and sent to official laboratories for testing to detect compliance with standards.
6, through the JPMA certified manufacturers, will have the right to use the special certification mark in their products and packaging and advertising, packaging and advertising.
