According to the classification of GJB450A General Requirements for Equipment Reliability Work, reliability tests can be divided into environmental stress screening, reliability development tests, reliability growth tests, reliability appraisal tests, reliability acceptance tests, and life tests.
The division of labor and responsibilities of the six reliability experiments are different, each has its own ability, and the purpose, object, and application time of serving people are different (see the table below).
category | Purpose of Duties | Eligibility | When to apply |
Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) | Find and troubleshoot early failures caused by defects introduced by defects caused by defects introduced by defective components, manufacturing processes, and other causes. | It is mainly suitable for electronic products, but can also be used for electrical, electromechanical, optoelectronic and electrochemical products. | The development stage, production stage and overhaul process of the product. |
Reliability Development Test (RDT) | Look for design flaws in the product to improve the design and increase the level of inherent reliability of the product. | Electronics, electrical, electromechanical, optoelectronic and electrochemical products and mechanical products. | The early and middle stages of the development phase of the product. |
Reliability Growth Test (RGT) | Expose potential defects and take corrective actions to gradually bring the reliability of the product up to the specified requirements. | Electronics, electrical, electromechanical, optoelectronic and electrochemical products and mechanical products. | In the middle of the development stage of the product, the technical status of the product has been determined for the most part. |
Reliability Qualification Test (RQT) | Verify that the product is designed to meet the specified reliability requirements. | Electronics, electrical, electromechanical, optoelectronic and electrochemical products and make-or-break products. | At the stage of product design confirmation, the technical state of the product has been solidified after the product has passed the ESS and environmental qualification tests. |
Reliability Acceptance Test (RAT) | Verify that product reliability is maintained at the specified level for batch production. | Electronics, electrical, electromechanical, optoelectronic and electrochemical products and make-or-break products. | Batch production of products. |
Life Test (LT) | Verify whether the service life and storage life of the product under the specified conditions meet the specified requirements. | All kinds of products with service life and storage life requirements. | Product design finalization stage. After the product has passed the environmental qualification test, the technical state has been solidified. |
