On February 12, 2021, the Australian Standards Committee released the toy safety standard AS/NZS ISO 8124.3:2021 "Toy Safety - Part 3: Migration of Specific Elements". This standard was developed by the Joint Technical Committee CS-018 Children's Toy Safety Group. It replaces AS/NZS 8124.3:2012 and AS/NZS ISO 8124.3:2012 Amd 1:2016
This standard is equivalent to ISO 8124-3:2020 Toy Safety - Part 3: Migration of Specific Elements.
Compared to the previous versions of AS/NZS 8124.3:2012 and AS/NZS ISO 8124.3:2012 Amd 1:2016, the main changes are as follows:
Two detailed methods for wax removal have been added (Soxhlet extraction method and solvent extraction method) and replaced the original method.
Identified the method of elemental analysis. Elemental analysis can be performed using ICP-OES, ICP-MS, AAS, or other suitable methods, and an ICP-OES method is provided for reference.
Changed the definitions of "paper" and "cardboard". According to the new standard, cardboard or paperboard with a unit area mass exceeding 400 g/m2 will be defined as "paperboard".
